Bio
Hi. I'm Peter Roadknight. For the past thirty-five years or so I've been Head of Music in various secondary schools, as well as teaching instrumentally..
Every single one of my students over the years has come to music in a slightly different way, and it's that fact that has kept me passionate about music teaching. No two students' needs are ever quite the same, and my principal role is to find the best way of moving forward. Music is for everyone - that has always been the belief that has been at the core of my teaching.
I'm at heart a music educator, and my experience in this field is extensive. Alongside classroom teaching I've run choirs, accompanied, composed, run workshops, played in bands, MD'd musicals and shows, performed, and thought a lot about and written a lot about music education. My school experience has been almost extensively in secondary education, in both the state and private sectors. Within my private teaching, I have taught children from age four, many adults ,and possibly every age between. I love the challenge and variety!
